Product Overview

The FI-100 from Greenlee Communications is a fibre identifier kit. It identifies fibre with a tone detect and clear indication of signal transmission direction. The FI-100 supports all common fibres including 250µm, 900µm, 2mm, 3mm and is able to sense light in bend insensitive fibres. The optical fibre identifier can quickly identify the direction of transmitted fibre and display relative core power without interrupting current service. It detects modulations of 270Hz, 1KHz and 2KHz with an audible tone and LED indication. There are 4 adaptor heads available: ø0.25/ribbon cable, ø0.9, ø2.0 and ø3.0. This tool is powered by two AAA alkaline batteries. The FI-100 allows the technician to quickly determine approximate core power and signal direction in a fibre optic cable without disconnecting fibre. A non-intrusive macrobend is created so that only a small insertion loss is created, thus the technician can probe fibres without causing an alarm condition.
