Product Overview

The SMBJ28A from Littelfuse is a SMBJ series 600W, surface mount unidirectional transient voltage suppression diode in DO-214AA package. It features excellent clamping capability, low incremental surge resistance, low profile package, moulded plastic body over glass passivated junction, built-in strain relief and fast response time of typically less than 1.0ps from 0Vs to BV min. The peak pulse power dissipation (PPPM) is 600W at TA=25°C, 10/1000µs waveform, 0.01% repetition rate (duty cycle), power dissipation is 5W on infinite heat sink at TL=50°C and peak forward surge current (IFSM) is 100A measured on 8.3ms single half sine wave or equivalent square wave. This SMBJ series transient voltage suppression diode is designed specifically to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It is ideal for the protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus and other vulnerable circuits.
  • Reverse stand off voltage (VR) of 28V and maximum reverse leakage (IR) of 1µA at VR
  • Breakdown voltage (VBR) of 31.1V minimum, 34.4V maximum at 1mA test current (IT)
  • Maximum clamping voltage (VC) of 45.4V at IPP and maximum peak pulse current (IPP) of 13.3A
  • 0.094%/C maximum temperature coefficient of VBR
  • Typical failure mode is short from over specified voltage or current
  • UL E230531 approved, plastic package is flammability rated V-0 per UL standard
  • IEC-61000-4-2 ESD 30KV (air), 30KV (contact) protection
  • Suitable for surface mounted applications to optimize board space
  • Operating temperature range from -65°C to 150°C and 260°C/40sec high temperature to reflow soldering
  • ESD protection of data lines with IEC 61000-4-2 and EFT protection with IEC 61000-4-4 standard
