AD5165 is a 256-position, ultralow power, 1.8V logic-level digital potentiometer. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as mechanical potentiometers or variable resistors, with enhanced resolution, solid-state reliability, and superior low temperature coefficient performance. This device’s supply voltage requirement is 2.7V to 5.5V, but its logic voltage requirement is 1.8V to VDD. It consumes very low quiescent power during standby mode and is ideal for battery-operated applications. Wiper settings are controlled through a simple 3-wire interface. It is used in applications such as battery-operated electronics adjustment, remote utilities meter adjustment, mechanical potentiometer replacement, transducer circuit adjustment, automotive electronics adjustment, gain control and offset adjustment, system calibration, VCXO adjustment.

• Supply current is 1µA maximum at (digital inputs = 0V or VDD)
• Power dissipation is 5.5µW typical at (VDD = 5V ± 10%, or 3V ± 10%)
• Bandwidth -3dB is 55KHz typical at (VDD = 5V ± 10%, or 3V ± 10%)
• Total harmonic distortion is 0.05% typical at (VA =1V rms, VB = 0V, f = 1KHz)
• VW settling time is 2µs typical at (VA = 5V, VB = 0V, ±1LSB error band)
• Resistor noise voltage density is 28nV/√Hz typical at (RWB = 50Kohm)
• Operating temperature is -40°C to +125°C, package style is 8-lead thin SOT-23
