Product Overview
Silcoset 158 is a 1-part, RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) silicone adhesive sealant. It is one in a range of acetoxy cure products which are solvent free. During cure, it liberates a very small amount of acetic acid, giving rise to the familiar vinegar odour, which quickly dissipates after cure. It exhibits good primer-less adhesion to many substrates including but not limited to, aluminium, non ferrous metals, steel, glass, enamelled surfaces, fabrics ceramics, thermosetting, thermoplastics and wood and cures rapidly at room temperature when in contact with atmospheric moisture. Suitable applications are conveyor belts in food industry-These products are highly resistant to weathering and aging, largely stable to many solvents, oils, water, sea water, industrial waste gasses, diluted acids, saline solutions detergents, cleaners, propellants and fruit acids.
- Aerospace approved MSRR 9085, FDA CFR 177, 2600 for aqueous and fatty foods
- Approvals are EC 1935/2004 framework EN 1186-1/EN1186-3 compliance
- Flexible from -60 to +300°C
- Appearance is viscous liquid, self bonding
- Cure profile 23+/-2°C and 60+/-5% humidity, cure type acetoxy
- Colour is white, volume is 310ml
- Density is 1.14g/cm³ (BS ISO 2781)
- Working temperature is -60°C minimum, 300°C maximum
- Tensile strength is 2.93N/mm²/425psi (ISO 37), thermal conductivity is 0.2W/mK
- Dielectric strength is 22kV/mm/559V/mil (ASTM D149), shelf life is 24months
