MIKROE-6859 is a PIR 4 Click compact add-on board designed for human presence and motion detection by sensing changes in infrared radiation. It is based on the IRS-D200ST00R1, a pyroelectric infrared sensor from muRata, developed to provide high signal-to-noise performance and strong immunity to external disturbances. This PIR sensor comes with dual 2×0.5mm electrodes, a 16-bit ADC for high-resolution signal acquisition, and an I2C interface that enables precise PIR data reading as well as flexible operation in continuous output or interrupt-based modes. The interrupt functionality allows the host MCU to remain in Sleep mode until motion is detected, significantly reducing system power consumption, while the defined 55° by 42° field of view ensures balanced detection coverage. PIR 4 Click is well suited for applications such as IP cameras, smart doorbells, thermostats, smart home devices, LED lighting systems, HVAC equipment, IoT nodes, security systems, and white goods.
